Centuries: Ch 1.8They were monsters. They weren't like the villains in a children's story, they would not show restraint because one was a woman or child. The Frost Giants did not know mercy or compassion, they would even leave one of their own to die.Loki didn't know what to do. The girl wailed and fell to her knees. Tears streamed down her face as she cried. Loki recognized the body before her, an older brother. The mangled body covered that of a toddler, protecting her, or trying at least. What could Loki do for her? He scanned the area, refusing to see Embla so broken. He caught sight of her father in the distance. He had tried to be a hero, but it hadn't worked out so great for him.“Mom...?! Dad!” She cried, her voice breaking from her tears. That child within her still told her this was a nightmare. It told her she could cry and her parents would come to wake her and tell her everything was okay. “Mother....?”Loki only knew that he wanted to hold her and protect her fro
Centuries: Ch 1.7“Loki, you are as weak as they say!” Embla laughed.“I am a sorcerer, not a warrior.” Loki smiled back as if there was no problem with that.Because he might have just let her try and test his strength. He liked their current position....Embla had managed to knock him down, and she was now laying upon him in the soft grass.“Well I assumed, slaying Jotuns and all, that you would be stronger than that!” Embla just shook her head and smiled.“It is not proper to use one's strength against a lady.” Loki smirked. “Besides, I quite appreciate our current position.”Embla gasped as though she were offended and shoved Loki's shoulder, but her little smile and crimson blush gave her away. She shouted his name but did not sound upset in any way.Loki just chuckled and smiled. This. This was what mattered. Not Asgard. Just this woman laying across him. That heat in his stomach, and heart racing in his chest. This was living. His time in
Centuries: Ch 1.6Loki sighed. Asgard had become so...dull. Loki looked forward to his visits to Midgard. It was Embla, Loki knew. The last time he was on Midgard they had kissed. Now he just sat on the bed in his room wondering when they were to go to Earth again. He loved her, and he knew he had liked her ever since he had shown her his ability to use magic. But now he /knew/ that she liked him too. How many years had he just wasted trying to remain her friend? How long had she felt that way about him?Loki ran a hand across his face, but smiled. His mind kept fighting over those two things: Why had he waited? and she liked him, she really liked him. Finally Loki noticed the figure standing in his doorway.“Mother.” He acknowledged, surprised by her presence.Frigga smiled. “Whatever is on your mind, my son?”“It is nothing.”Loki watched as Frigga sat down next to him.“It took you a couple minutes to even notice me at your door. Only one thing ever has Thor
Centuries: Ch 1.5“Those two can just be so aggravating at times!”Embla and Loki had finally left the tavern for the night, and the sudden outburst from Embla surprised Loki.“How do you even put up with them?”Loki could understand her annoyance with Thor and Fandral, but he was confused as to the cause of her sudden change in demeanor. She had appeared rather content and even amused by their behavior in the tavern.“Did they do something to offend you?” Loki asked.Embla shook her head and sighed. “Why is it so hard for them to believe a woman can like you?”Loki's mouth opened as if to say something, but nothing came out. He closed it, unsure what to say, as he was not entirely sure what /she/ was saying. Was she trying to say that maybe she /did/ see him as more than a friend? Were her actions that night more than just a ruse to fool Thor and Fandral? Then Embla suddenly faced him with a pout. “Why let them act that way toward you?!”Loki
Centuries: Ch 1.4It was perhaps a month later when Loki was able to see her again. Over that time however, Loki was unable to figure out why their conversation had hurt him so much. Was he upset she only considered him a friend, and nothing more? He didn't know.Embla though, was in much better spirits that day, as she was actually out at the tavern. She smiled when she saw Loki enter the building, and he nodded his head to her in response, but he was stuck in an annoying, one-sided, conversation with his brother. But it took no time at all for that conversation to end, and for the topic of Loki getting a woman to be brought up again. They were so predictable that Loki just sighed.Fandral however, at least came up with something new.“Are you perhaps more attracted to the male form? It would certainly explain your disinterest in women!” And he laughed.Loki almost groaned, while Thor just laughed and waited for Loki's answer.“I am merely disinterested in your games. That is all.
